Every 311 noise complaint filed in 2025 and year-to-date 2026, plus every DEP noise-code violation issued in the same window. Vehicle-sound tickets come from the city's noise-camera program.

Source: NYC 311 Service Requests dataset (erm2-nwe9) on NYC Open Data. Filter: complaint_type begins with "Noise". Date field: created_date.

What's a "chronic" address? A point on the map that has received at least the threshold number of complaints in the selected time window, after rounding lat/lng coordinates to roughly 50-meter blocks (so closely-spaced addresses are merged).

Helicopter caveat: Helicopter noise complaints are filed against an address but the helicopter is rarely overhead. Many cluster at LaGuardia, JFK, and Manhattan heliports rather than where residents heard it.

What this map is not: a measurement of how loud New York is. It is a measurement of where and when residents called 311. Reporting rates vary by neighborhood, and many noise events go unreported.
